CIO as a Service: C-level IT leadership when you need it
Mid-sized companies face the same IT challenges as large corporations, but rarely have their own CIO. I take on this role for as many days a month as you need. You get strategic leadership, a voice at eye level with your service providers and a plan for AI, without filling a permanent position.
Independent of vendors. I recommend what suits you and earn nothing from licences or referrals. That way your IT leadership represents only your interests towards service providers.
Who it is for
- Managing directors and CFOs whose IT has so far just been “running alongside”
- Companies whose IT head is leaving or the position is being refilled
- Subsidiaries that quickly need professional IT, aligned with headquarters
What you get
IT strategy
Goals, architecture and budget derived from your corporate strategy; decision papers for management
Management
Leading the IT team and the service providers, tenders and contract negotiations, cost control
AI strategy and governance
Choosing use cases with real value, assessing risks, setting rules for their use, also with a view to the EU AI Act
Security and risk
Risk analysis, contingency and scenario planning, compliance
Subsidiaries
Setting up and running IT on site, in line with group standards
How we work together
- Monthly mandate: if you need strategic IT leadership on an ongoing basis, but not full time.
- Interim CIO: if a position needs to be bridged or a major change is coming up, such as a new ERP or a cloud migration.
- Sparring: if your IT head is looking for an experienced counterpart for important decisions.
Example from practice
Bauer Far East, Singapore: As regional CIO of the Asian division of the Bauer Group, I brought the IT of all sites together on a common network and collaboration platform and built up a professional IT department. Read the case study

- 2. Quick analysis: within a few days I get an overview of systems, costs, service providers and risks.
